Here are some of the current assignments that you are responsible for:
Book Reports:
Bayview Cabin
Due January 5, 2012
The holidays are almost here. There are many books written about this special time of the year. Read a book on this subject and write a summary of the book. Make a paper bag puppet character from the story that you will use to read your report.
4th, 5th & 6th graders
Your report should include information on:
1. Briefly summarize (1/2 page)
2. Best part of the story (1/2 page)
3. Your opinion (what did you think of the characters, the setting and the plot?) (1/2 page)
2nd & 3rd graders
2nd graders should have 8 – 14 facts in sentence format.
3rd graders should have 15 – 20 facts in sentence format.

1st grade
Due November 18th
Read about Ghosts, Monsters or Mysteries;
Real or Fictional.
Make a hand puppet of the main character. This can be as simple as coloring a small paper bag; it can also be more elaborate if you choose. Use the puppet to tell about the book. Your report should include information on:
1. Characters
2. Setting
3. Plot:
a.What happens first?
b. Next?
c. Then finally, how does it end?
(Each of these is a different sentence.)
4. Your opinion of the book.
Snack Reports
For the day indicated: (your child has this date), please have your child bring in a nutritious snack for 20 children in Mrs. Giordano’s and Mrs. Porter’s class and 25-30 in Mrs. Thompson’s class. Remember, it’s a snack, not a meal. One box of crackers or some fruit, veggies or cheese should be sufficient. NO HIGH SUGAR ITEMS PLEASE! On the day they bring in snack they will also be responsible for having a report, as specified below, to be shared with the class.

Seaside and Crow’s Nest Cabins
In our previous lesson on flags, we learned that each country has a flag that contains special symbols which represents them. For your report, we would like you to research a country and include the following information in your reports:
1. Draw and color a picture of the country’s flag.
2. Explain what the symbols on the flag represent.
3. Give three to six additional facts about your chosen country.
First Grade – 3 to 4 facts
Second Grade – 5 to 6 facts
To assure that a variety of countries are being covered, please check with your teacher to confirm your choice of a country to research.
