About LOL

A parent of a child who graduated from our Elementary program writes:

“Last June, B. graduated from middle school into high school here in Syosset… At an invitation-only academic awards ceremony the day after… B. was one of about 40 boys and girls invited to attend. There, to our total shock and breathtaking surprise, B. received more awards than any other boy in the entire class, “honors” students included! The awards were not only for academic excellence but for class participation and student inter-facing. And the winners were selected by the teachers — these were the students they liked the best.”
“…while commending him for his unexpected and incredible accomplishments, I noted that Cami and Shelly — Montessori — has set the table for his amazing progress.”
“My children may never be the smartest or most intelligent kids in their classes, but they will always respect their teachers, work their hardest and treat their classmates with respect. Thank you, Montessori!!”

As this letter so eloquently implies, during your child’s early education years is the most important time to invest wisely. Money well spent now will more than pay off in your child’s future educational experience. The longer you can remain with us, the greater the benefit.

Love of Learning Montessori is a new/old venture. We are “new” — we began in September 1999, using the not-for-profit model; a model which provides a legal and operational framework that requires all the financial resources of the school to go directly to the education of the children.

This is an “old venture” in that the school’s directors, Shelly and Cami Thompson have been dedicating their lives to quality Montessori education for the past 25 years. Over the years they have learned how to fine-tune the application of the Montessori method to the betterment of thousands of children.

Love of Learning Montessori offers your child:

  • The opportunity to develop a natural love of learning.
  • A happy, nurturing, loving and creative atmosphere.
  • The ability to work and play harmoniously with others.
  • Social skills are developed in a relaxed environment.
  • A longer attention span.
  • A solid educational foundation.
  • Exciting, challenging material created to satisfy the needs of “sensitive periods” in your child’s development.
  • Learning evolves like building blocks: starting with basic materials and growing to the more challenging, as your child advances.
  • Self-discipline, initiative and good work habits.
  • A program where your child can learn at his/her own pace, naturally and spontaneously, in an open classroom.
  • Students learn to not be afraid of making mistakes. Humanity has learned as much from its mistakes as from its successes. Our students come to see mistakes as natural steps in the learning process.
  • Children are consciously taught to be peaceful, conscientious and kind.
